Managing Director and Force of NatureGeoff founded Typhoon House 23 plus years ago. He is our glorious master and commander. Geoff’s unique vision and leadership style has made Typhoon House the tour de force that it is. Born in Lambeth, London and spending his formative years in Singapore, he moved to the Isle of Man 23 years ago via the Fleet Air Arm, Laker Airways, Hong Kong and other countries too varied to mention. Engineering has always been his passion. For many years he kept huge fleets of very big aeroplanes flying, and was Head of Quality Assurance for Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong for over 15 years. His incredible engineering background made establishing Typhoon House as the Island’s leading printer and audio visual specialists the logical choice. Geoff has built the company by investing in great, likeminded people and ensuring that the Typhoon team have all the qualifications and support required to satisfy and exceed both manufacturers’ and clients’ expectations. He now focuses on providing innovative audio visual solutions for all our clients. He is renowned not just for his professionalism, but also for his eccentric sense of humour and fun. The workplace should also be a fun place!
Geoff has the misfortune to be married to Debs and this relationship and their diverse skill set makes Typhoon House an exciting and creative company to do business with. When Geoff isn’t working he will be found riding his Triumph Rocket III or taking amazing professional photos. His images of stars such as John McGuiness can often be found in the TT programme and many other photographic publications. He is also a massive jazz and blues fan and believes (some would say mistakenly) that Miles Davis is a God!
Sales and Marketing DirectorDebs aka Hurricane Debs was born in France and moved to London at the age of 3. She went to a variety of different schools and ended up quite well educated despite her best efforts not to be. She went on to have a successful career in marketing which has now lasted over 30 years, more than half of that in the IT industry. She spent 5 years at Walt Disney, 7 years with Jim Henson and many other film companies.
She left the bright lights of film marketing 19 years ago when she moved over to the island to marry Geoff. Shortly after they married she joined him at Caledonia Ltd. as Sales and Marketing Director.
She loves living and working on the Isle of Man. She throws herself into everything that interest her with a huge passion such as film making – she produces and directs short films in her spare time, some of which have made it onto the International Film Circuit. She also is a dab hand on the other side of the camera and has acted in both films and plays although she got her Equity card by being a stand up comedienne!
She adores motorsport and bikes and was a DSM for the TT and MGP for 10 years.
Finally, she loves making things happen, her 2 dogs, friends, husband and family. Her mantra for all of us is that we should never be scared of jumping off cliffs as the landing is much less scary than the jump!
Service ManagerTim has worked for Typhoon House since September 2014, but has been involved in the office equipment industry since leaving school some 30-odd years ago. During that time, he has amassed a vast amount of knowledge and experience on a myriad of top brands and products.
Tim oversees and manages all aspects of our service delivery on a technical support level as well as the delivery and distribution of machines, consumables and toners to our clients. He also provides consultancy and sales of office equipment products. He is our Multi-Function Person in a business that specialises in providing sales and support of Multi-Function products!
He lives in Port Erin with wife Georgina and has two Sons; Matthew and Ryan.
Outside of work, Tim enjoys football, motorsport and keeping his friends’ and family’s vehicles clean and shiny.
Field Service EngineerSteven has been in the IT and printing business for over 22 years, but has also been a licensee and barman, sales assistant, and stage fight choreographer! He trained in integrated engineering, and is a font of knowledge on a wide range of printing equipment from desktop dot matrix devices, through ticket printers to multi-function devices and advanced digital production machines, with the added bonus of integrated network, computer, software diagnostic capabilities.
Extracurricular activities include paintball-playing and marshalling, rock climbing, working on his sword play, defence psychology, mixed martial arts, and he makes a good cup of tea too! He also likes to study folklore, herbalism, complimentary therapy, paranormal spooky stuff and magnetic field theory with a hint of quantum physics.
Warehouse SupervisorRyan joined Typhoon House in the summer of 2015 and has quickly become invaluable in a department where there’s so much potential for chaos! He is responsible for maintaining consumables, stock checking and ordering, and setting up machines for sale among many other store room duties.
Ryan is a big football fan and plays for Governor’s Athletic. He puts us all to shame with his regular gym-going and drinks an abnormal amount of tea.
Junior System TechnicianMilen joined us in January 2016 and he is the lovely chap you will mainly see delivering your goods as well as reporting and solving issues. Our ‘Charming Man’, meeting customers face to face is something he describes as one of the greatest benefits of his position.
Outside of his Typhoon House duties his passion is photography. He loves portrait and social photography and has been involved in several creative projects on the island, most recently ‘Portrait of Mann’. He finds his love for photography to be a great creative output. He has worked with international artists and photographers and is an upbeat, kind person to have around.
He is married with 2 children; a daughter and a son – describing his family as his inspiration.
Accounts AdministratorQueen of all things numerical, Dee holds everything together in our accounts department. She is universally adored by us all. She is well travelled and loves a good holiday along with some slightly more pedestrian hobbies such as reading and gardening. Known round the office as Funky Gibbons, she is brilliant at keeping us all under control. She has 2 sons and loves socialising with her pals.
Dannii joined us as Business Support Officer in February 2016 and has a concrete background in IT support and sales. Here to answer all your tech support problems at first contact, you won’t find a funnier and nicer person to moan about your printer woes to.
Dannii is a co-driver in the local rallies and is 5 times junior co-driver champion and twice ladies’ champion. Don’t call her a girl racer though!
Field Service EngineerPete joined us in January 2017 and we are delighted that he is part of our already impressive qualified, extensive and experienced Service Support Team. Pete has an incredible and eclectic skill set. His knowledge and qualifications across the entire Konica Minolta range of Business and Production machines is second to none. He has worked in the IT and MFD support industry for over 10 years. Pete has a naturally inquisitive mind and is driven to find out how everything works.
His first job was as an Industrial Chemical/Lab technician. Mainly doing Chemical analysis with lots of nasty chemicals Inc. Cyanide, and hydrofluoric acid. Very sensibly he retrained in IT and MFDs as “there is less chance of dying on a daily basis.”
He fits right in as he is a dog lover and has a 14 year old collie cross and a 4 month old field English springer spaniel called Odin which takes up most of spare time. Loves motorcycles and the TT, horse riding and plays hockey (hopefully not all at the same time). We all enjoy his quirky sense of humour and engaging personality as do our clients.
